Sportsmanship
Awards Program
In the
spring of 2007, the Maine Principals' Association inaugurated its
annual Sportsmanship Awards Program. The program is designed to foster
sportsmanship in interscholatic activities by publicizing the examples
of sportsmanship that are displayed by Maine's high school competitors.
Nominations will be accepted during the school year through May 15,
2009 and the awards presented by members of the Sportsmanship Committee
to the winners at appropriate end-of-the-year local school banquets
or assemblies. Schools may find the criteria and application form
below.

SPORTSMANSHIP PAMPHLET NOW AVAILABLE!
The
Maine Principals' Association Sportsmanship Committee has developed
a pamphlet that schools may use in their sportsmanship programs.
The pamphlet is located at http://www.mpa.cc/Sportsmanship2006.doc
and may be downloaded by schools that wish to hand it out to parents,
students, and fans. There is a place on the front of the brochure
for a school's name and logo. It is hoped that this resource will
be used by schools to help curb some of the unacceptable behaviors
that some people exhibit at interscholastic contests. The Sportsmanship
Committee welcomes feedback on this endeavor and suggestions for
other projects. The contact person for the committee is Jeff Sturgis.
