Sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association and Maine School Management
Association in partnership with Drummond Woodsum.  The institute satisfies the United States and State of Maine civil rights law and education law requirements for all administrator certificates. Graduate credit is not available.

Great Beginnings: An Orientation for New School Administrators

Registration limited to 50 participants, who will also meet on October 14, 2011; January 20, 2012 (snow date – January 24); and March 23, 2012.
This series is part of the MPA’s induction plan for new school administrators.
Facilitators: Lynne Coy-Ogan, Provost at Husson University, and Ted Hall, Principal of Yarmouth High School
Other presenters:  Exemplary principals and assistant principals who are currently leading Maine Schools K-12.

Workshop for New Athletic Administrators

This workshop is a required orientation to the Maine Principals’ Association and its roles and obligations on behalf of member schools.
First-time Maine high school athletic administrators must attend.
Following the workshop, LTC 502 Athletic Administration:  Principles, Strategies, and Methods will be offered from 2:00-6:00 p.m. by the Maine Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.  Topics include potential problems and solutions on issues ranging from budget to scheduling.

Mentoring/Coaching Program for Principals
MPA Conference Center, Augusta
This series is year-one for proteges and mentor/coaches who are matched for the 2011-12 school year.  Meeting dates for 2011-12 are September 12, 2011 (protégés and mentor/coaches); October 7, 2011(mentor/coaches only); December 9, 2011 (snow date – December 12) protégés and mentor/coaches; January 27, 2012 (snow date –January 30) mentor/coaches only; March 16, 2012 (snow date – March 19)Mentor/coaches only; and May 16, 2012 (protégés and mentor/coaches).

Introduction to Athletics for New Principals and Assistant Principals

This workshop is required for first-time high school principals, both from in-state and out-of-state. Its purposes are to provide an awareness of the inner workings of a school’s athletic program as well as the role of the Maine Principals’ Association in interscholastic activities.
Note:  This session may be used by first-time high school athletic administrators, both from in-state and out-of-state, hired after the end of July to fulfill their MPA workshop requirement.

SERIES –Supporting the Development of a School-wide Response When Students Don’t Learn
