The Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) is pleased to announce its partnership with Subway® Restaurants of Maine and Aroma Joe’s® of Maine. The partnership will celebrate high school student-athletes across the state by continuing a scholarship for seniors that began in 2021.
“We are delighted to show our support of Maine’s state championships and the senior student-athletes who represent our communities so well,” said Loren Goodridge. Goodridge is a local owner of Subway® restaurants and Aroma Joe’s® and serves as the Business Development Agent for Maine Subway® and Maine and New Hampshire Aroma Joe’s®. “The Subway® and Aroma Joe’s® brands are enthusiastic about local involvement in the athletic community, and we look forward to recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of the 2022 Student-Athlete Scholarship awardee.”
The Student-Athlete Scholarship will be awarded to a senior who displays excellence in the areas of academics, athletics, and community leadership. Last year’s Class of 2021 winner Parker Harnett of the Yarmouth High School received a $1,000 scholarship. Seniors set to graduate in 2022 may apply for the $1,000 scholarship by clicking here. One winner will be selected and announced in May.
“Last year, more than 250 graduating seniors from 118 high schools applied for the student-athlete scholarship,” added Mike Burnham, Executive Director of the MPA. “We know so many of our schools, teams, and families enjoy visiting Aroma Joe’s® and Subway® before and after games, and we are grateful for the restaurants’ continued support.”
