Sanford's Tremblay Wins Aroma Joe’s® of ME Development Office $1,000 Scholarship

A 2023 Sanford High School graduate, Isabella Tremblay, was recently awarded the $1,000 Aroma Joe’s® Student-Athlete Scholarship by Aroma Joe’s® of Maine Development Office. The award began in 2021 and is part of the locally based chain’s partnership with the Maine Principals’ Association (MPA).

The Student-Athlete Scholarship is funded by Aroma Joe’s® of ME Development Office and awarded to a senior who displays excellence in the areas of academics, athletics, and community service. Seniors set to graduate in 2023 were eligible to apply, and more than 160 applications were received by the MPA.

Tremblay is set to major in Biology at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, after graduating in June as one of Sanford’s Top 10 graduates. She departs high school as a highly decorated student-athlete with highlights including:

  • 4.0 GPA, including completion of multiple honors and AP classes.
  • Four-year, All-Academic Award winner in each sports season.
  • Southern Maine Activities Association (SMAA) All-Conference for Winter Cheering
  • President of Pep Club,
  • Vice President of Key Club, a student-led organization focused on service.
  • Participant in Peer Helpers, National Honors Society, and Homecoming Committee

While in high school, Tremblay captained the Cheerleading team and competed in one year of Basketball.  Speaking about her most memorable moment, Tremblay remembered her cheer team hitting a “perfect” routine during her junior year season’s MPA State Championship.

“As soon as they announced our team as the silver medalists, we all broke into [happy] tears,” said Tremblay.  “This was the first time that Sanford had placed this high, and it meant a lot that our principal [Matthew Petermann] was able to give my teammates and me our medals.”

Outside of her school commitments, Tremblay participates on the Maine Attraction Waterski Show Team which inspired one branch of her community volunteerism.

“My freshman year of high school, a teammate from the Maine Attraction Waterski Show Team and I started this amazing Adaptive Waterski Clinic,” said Tremblay.  “Each summer, we host individuals with any type of disability and provide them with the opportunity to waterski. Participation has grown, and we want to continue giving these life changing opportunities to community members.”
