Subway® Partners with MPA to Celebrate Senior Student-Athletes

The Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Subway® Restaurants of Maine, wherein the locally owned and operated locations across the state will serve as the “Official Partner” for the current school year.

The partnership will celebrate high school student-athletes across the state, introduce a scholarship opportunity for seniors through the Student-Athlete Scholarship award and provide assistance to schools through discounted catering services for MPA members.

"We are thrilled to partner with MPA and award a $1,000 Student- Athlete Scholarship to one outstanding athlete this year," said Loren Goodridge, local Subway owner and Business Development Agent for the Maine Subway territory. “The Subway® brand has always encouraged our youth to live a healthy and active lifestyle, so this partnership is a perfect fit. We look forward to expanding our local involvement in the athletic community across the Maine High Schools and recognizing their outstanding accomplishments."

The new Student-Athlete Scholarship will be funded by Subway® and awarded to a senior who displays excellence in the areas of academics, athletics, and community service. Seniors set to graduate in 2021 may apply for a $1,000 scholarship to be funded and awarded directly from local Subway® franchisees. A link to the application can be found by clicking here, and one winner will be selected and announced in May 2021.

Subway® will also provide a helping hand to schools by offering MPA members discounted catering rates to feed their teams healthy and nutritious meals throughout the year. With an additional presence at MPA Championship events, fans will have the opportunity to win coupons and gift cards to their nearby Subway® restaurant as well.

“We look forward to this exciting partnership with Subway,” said Mike Burnham, MPA Executive Director, Interscholastic Division.  “We look forward to working with restaurants across the state for many years to come.”
