AUGUSTA, ME (March 4, 2021)—The Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) is proud to announce its newest partnership with Hussey Seating Company, a world leading manufacturer and provider of seating solutions for the sports, entertainment, worship and education industries headquartered in Maine.
The partnership will focus on supporting the MPA’s Esports league, which currently includes teams from 30 high schools. The MPA’s Esports league is hosted through PlayVS. The Spring 2021 season will feature teams competing in leagues for popular video games including Rocket League, League of Legends, FIFA 21 and Madden NFL 21.
Rocket League has proven to be the most popular game amongst Maine’s high school teams, and the Spring 2021 season will feature more than 20 teams who will compete against in-state schools to be crowned as an MPA State Champion. Hussey Seating Company will award this winning school with a customized gaming chair and a series of customized Clarin by Hussey Seating portable folding chairs from the company’s extensive product offering found at https://www.husseyseating.com.
We have partnerships worldwide, but upon hearing about the MPA’s Esports League, we knew we wanted to get involved in our own backyard,” said Anne-Mari Kelly, Director of Esports and Partnership Development. “Our company has helped some of the largest esports venues develop seating solutions for this new wave of entertainment, and we are looking forward to supporting our state’s own growth in the sport and build upon the team spirit that each of the competitors brings adds to their school.”
The Esports regular season started March 2, and the date for the virtual championship will be announced later in March. Fans can follow their favorite teams at the PlayVS Web site https://www.playvs.com/maine.
While schools competing in Rocket League will have a schedule and championship featuring Maine-only high schools, schools participating in League of Legends, Madden NFL 21 and FIFA 21 will participate in a league and championship that spans the east coast until a minimum of 20 teams enter each game’s league causing a Maine-only league to be formed and State Champion to be crowned. Hussey Seating’s partnership with the MPA will continue into the Fall 2021 season, and when State Champions are crowned schools will receive customized chairs for their programs, too.
“Hussey Seating is a brand that so many of our member schools trust and turn to for their traditional athletic venues,” added Mike Burnham, Executive Director of the Interscholastic Division of the Maine Principals’ Association. “We are proud to be one of their first high school association-wide partnerships in the country and appreciate the interest in supporting Esports in Maine’s high schools.”
